Lelivelt Family Maraschino Cookies

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1-1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 large jar of maraschino cherries

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Drain the cherries and cut in half. Place face down on a paper towel to soak up the extra liquid.

Cream the butter and sugar, add egg, milk, and vanilla and mix well. In a separate bowl combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to wet ingredients. Spoon onto a greased cookie sheet and top with cherries. Bake about 12 minutes.

Try to eat only one dozen at a time per person. Double the recipe!
